Southern California Artist Don Roth comes to the craft of painting with a vast range of abilities and experience. He incorporates the technical skills of a Draftsman and Illustrator in a subtle blend of precision and sensitivity, making his creations a wonder to behold.
"Born with a pencil in his hand", Don inherited his artistic talent from his father, who was a successful Automobile Designer in Detroit, where the "Roth" family originated.

After excelling at Art in high school and college, Don served in the Navy as an Illustrator. He then worked for several years as a "one-man-Art Department" for a large city in Orange County. Ultimately, the artist ended up working for fifteen years as an Illustrator for Boeing and McDonnell Douglas Aircraft Companies in Long Beach, California. There he created hundreds of photo-realistic air-brushed renderings of commercial aircraft interiors, including designs for "Air Force One", and the King of Saudi Arabia, thereby acquiring many of the painting techniques he would ultimately utilize in his fine art career.

Now working full time as a fine artist, Don has created numerous commissioned paintings for several VIP clients in Beverly Hills, and his paintings are now displayed in corporate offices, private collections, and art galleries in the Southern California area. Additionally, four of the artist's beach themed images can now be seen as large wall murals in the lobby area of a large resort hotel in Florida.

The "Kool-Kat" painting series, represents the culmination of Don's artistic experience and development. A true "cat-lover" all of his life, these whimsical, light-hearted and nostalgic paintings depict the fantasy of a simpler world where KATS are KOOL!

Since April of 2001, Don has been represented by Mill Pond Press of Venice, Florida. Many of the Kool-Kat images now appear on various puzzles, tee-shirts, beach towels, and greeting cards.
Look for several of the Kool-Kat images to appear in a new book for children titled "My travels with Tiger", by "Vincent Van Mouse", due to be published soon.

As of 2004, several "Kool-Kat Kollection" signed and numbered, limited edition seriolithographs, are now available for purchase on Princess, and Carnival Cruise Lines on-board fine art auctions.
This international exposure has brought the artist world-wide acclaim, as he has now earned the title of: "The Norman Rockwell of Cats"!
